It's Always a Good Time To Switch To BARF Diet
If you have been feeding your dog dehydrated food until now, you may think that feeding raw food is strange, difficult or complicated, but that is not the case.
If you have been feeding your dog dehydrated food until now, you may think that feeding raw food is strange, difficult or complicated, but that is not the case.
Starter for an easier transition to BARF For dogs transitioning to raw food, whether it is a puppy or an adult dog, we recommend starting with
Von BARF Starter. In our experience, dog owners are most confused about whether they should start with Von BARF Starter or Sensitiv. Dogs with health problems are often referred to BARF. Most often, these are dogs that have long-term problems with gastritis, allergies, chronic diarrhea, etc.
despite therapy and tried different foods, this condition does not improve. We recommend
Von BARF Sensitive for dogs that have very pronounced symptoms at the time of the transition. For example if the dog has gastritis, but is currently in a calmer phase - not vomiting, then we recommend starting with Starter. If the dog shows symptoms - nausea, vomiting, then we recommend starting with Sensitiva. When the symptoms subside after feeding only Sensitive, we recommend that Sensitive be mixed with other Von BARF products. Because Sensitive is not a complete meal, it does not contain ground bones and cartilage, and it would not be good for a dog to eat only that product for months or years. Sensitive contains only green raw beef belly/fillet/tripe and a small amount of vegetables. Owners who have no experience with raw food may think that the product is spoiled, because they expect the red color of the meat and the smell of fresh ground meat. But Sensitive has a very specific smell, and the usual color of this product is grayish-green. Sensitive is a real treat for most dogs. That's why if you encounter Von BARF Sensitiv for the first time, don't judge by your nose. Apart from the type of food to start feeding the dog when switching to raw food, the second most common concern of owners is whether the food that the dog has been eating until now should be mixed with raw food. We do not recommend mixing raw food and dehydrated food. Especially not in the adaptation phase when it is important that the pH of the stomach becomes very acidic in order to be able to digest raw meat and bone well. Dogs that eat dehydrated food have a slightly higher-alkaline stomach pH. When the adaptation phase has passed, you can feed a combination of raw and dehydrated food, but in separate meals. Whether it is one meal of raw food and one meal of dehydrated food, whether some days the dog eats raw food and some days dehydrated food.
