How To Make a BARF Meal Even More Interesting for Your Pet?

With our Von BARF Starter and Classic meals and occasional feeding of Von BARF Adriatica and one of the products from the Von BARF Premium Selection line, you have provided your dog with quality food. In principle, nothing needs to be added to Von BARF fresh food, but there is absolutely no obstacle to introducing a little healthy variety into your dog's meals, because there are many different foods that you can offer your dog.

< strong>Vegetables and fruits with BARF

Dogs get most of their vitamins and minerals from raw meat, but vegetables are also an important source of raw fibers, vitamins and minerals that are extremely important for optimal body health. You can give the vegetables raw, but it is even better to boil them a little and chop or make a puree, which the dog will then be able to use better. Different fruits will certainly be a great combination:

  • Berries
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Watermelon

Your dog will decide for himself what suits him best. Other plants also contain polyphenols, but they are most abundant in fruits, especially berries, apples and pears. Polyphenols are important food for good bacteria in the gut. Bacteria as a byproduct of polyphenol digestion produce lower fatty acids, which protect cells from cancer.

Fermented dairy products

Dairy products combined with barf will make a daily feeding more interesting for the pet:

  • Fresh cheese
  • Kefir
  • Yogurt

Fermented dairy products are a source of calcium and protein. Most dogs really like dairy products and see them as a top treat, a reward. Fermented dairy products have less lactose than milk, but be careful how the dog reacts at first consumption because some dogs cannot digest lactose.

Eggs

Raw eggs together with the shell are excellent, very affordable, nutritious and at the same time the most complete food you can offer your dog. They are a rich source of proteins, vitamins and minerals, but be careful, eggs should not be a daily meal. Two to three eggs per week will be quite enough.

All the foods we have listed can be added to the BARF meal or offered as a separate smaller meal between the main meals. It is certainly important to be moderate, so if you introduce an additional meal, be sure to reduce the amount of the main meals. There is no need to add synthetic vitamins and minerals to a raw meal. In a properly composed raw meal in which the proportions and quality of each food item are taken care of, all the necessary nutrients are contained in the food naturally.
