FEEDING GUIDE
The amount of food needed for one meal should be thawed and served when it reaches room temperature. This food must not be exposed to high temperatures, cooked or heated in the microwave.
Thawed BARF can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. When taken out of the refrigerator, the meal should be served when it reaches room temperature.
NUMBER AND SIZE OF MEALS
As this food does not contain ground bones and cartilage, we advise you to combine it with other raw Von BARF products to ensure a complete meal for your dog when combined with other products. With this product, it would be best to offer your dog bones, appropriate in size and amount to the size of your dog, 2-3 times a week.
Give preference to bones that have a lot of cartilage at the edges/joint parts, and it is desirable for them to also have some meat on them. Bones must necessarily be raw. (Fulfilling the idea of a complete meal doesn’t mean that the dog has to receive exactly determined amounts of various nutrients every day, but rather that the idea of a complete meal is met over a week or ten days by combining different foods and meals.)
The size of the meal depends on the body mass, activity, and age of the dog. For adult dogs, it is usually around 2% of body weight.
The recommended daily meal for puppies is 3% of the expected body weight at adult age. Adult, healthy dogs are recommended to be fed once a day. If the dog is used to eating 2-3 meals a day, this routine can continue.
Puppies, bitches in the late stage of pregnancy and lactation, and dogs with health problems are usually fed several times a day.
It is recommended to weigh your dog before starting to feed with BARF and again 2 to 3 weeks later. Depending on what was intended to be achieved (maintaining body weight, weight loss, weight gain), adjust the size of the meal.
